After the hustle and bustle of the holidays comes the "winter blues". The glitter and shine are gone and we are left with cold, snow and recently thunderstorms with tornado warnings in February. This is the time where viruses seem to prevail and it seems like winter will never end. We all know it will and soon enough there will be some other element of weather to wish away.
Tonight I find myself asking, "What if we were thankful for the opportunities that winter weather can bring us?" What would our list look like? Without winter, I wouldn't have found out how much my kids liked to snow-tube. My son wouldn't have thrown a snowball hitting my husbands square on the back of his head. (It was one of those moments that as a parent you know you shouldn't laugh so you hide your face away and chuckle silently.) I think I would lose precious cuddle time with my kids and husband.
Why do we wish our time away so quickly? I find myself asking this question maybe because I know that someday I will say, "time just flew by". So, I am going to cherish what we have left of winter. It isn't much, but soon enough we will be wishing it was just a little cooler outside. It's only natural to want what you don't have. However, I think we should all take more time to think about what we do have and thank the Lord for all of our blessings!
